Bovino Castle

The Ducal Castle/Palace of Bovino is located on a rocky spur and overlooks the entire valley below. Already a fortress during Roman times, a defensive bastion for the Lombards and Byzantines, it was razed at the end of the 11th century. Majestic in its dimensions and altered several times over the centuries, it became from 1575 the residence of the Guevara dukes, who transformed it into a sumptuous noble residence.

Opinion

Local master stonemasons embellish almost all private homes, and the castle is no exception: a visit not to be missed.
