A romantic village of just over 3,000 inhabitants, it is known as the "city of 800 stone doorways," referring to the 800 doorways made by local master stonemasons whose reputation is well established.

The village retains splendid jewels among its ancient streets: one must stroll to admire the cobbled alleys made of river stones, the stone houses with their traditional tiled roofs, the brick archways, the aristocratic residences with their beautiful inner courtyards, the mosaics, the remnants of the Roman walls, and the stairs that decorate the village's alleys.

Bovino Castle

- Castle
The Ducal Castle/Palace of Bovino is located on a rocky spur and overlooks the entire valley below. Already a fortress during Roman times, a defensive bastion for the Lombards and Byzantines, it was razed at the end of the 11th century. Majestic in its dimensions and altered several times over the centuries, it became from 1575 the residence of the Guevara dukes, who transformed it into a sumptuous noble residence.
