It is nonetheless the city where the famous explorer James Cook docked (whose museum stands in the city). It is also a starting point for many dives to the Great Barrier Reef when you don't want to do the same as everyone else in Cairns and when you have time. Finally, for fishing enthusiasts, it is possible to go out to sea for a day of fishing!
