Our passionate guide gives us a lengthy description of the figures carved into the wall. Unfortunately, these sculptures made of tuff are in fairly poor condition: some are crumbling, others are covered in "green algae."

There are troglodyte sculptures whose exact creation date is unknown. It is highly likely that they date from the Renaissance. These sculptures have a satirical purpose: they are a sort of "Charlie Hebdo" of the time. They notably depict Catherine de' Medici and Diane de Poitiers, as well as Indians, a monkey, a ram, and a few nude characters (quite erotic for the time).
