Its location is simply stunning! Perched on its rock and surrounded by ramparts, it initially gives the impression of being a huge wall. However, upon closer inspection, it is most certainly more of a ruin than a dilapidated castle. Most of the rebuilt buildings are modern and are upscale restaurants.

Be careful if you have a large vehicle. The parking spaces on the slope are tiny, and you will not be able to turn around when you arrive at the top. So, look for a spot in the city. Similarly, there is only one parking lot at the bottom of the hill that has ten spaces, and that's it!

The place is truly magnificent although we were disappointed to find that it had been set up to accommodate a privileged clientele wishing to dine at the top of this unique historical site. So it's a bit bittersweet that we still visited the ruins and the ramparts surrounded by a horde of tourists. Expect to pay €5 for two people to access it.
