Prehistoric Site of the Altamura Man

The Lamalunga cave is an archaeological site located near Altamura, in the province of Bari, known for being the site of the discovery of the Altamura Man. It is the only remains of complete human skeletons from the Paleolithic period, belonging to Homo neanderthalensis, which lived 180,000 to 130,000 years ago.
