This circuit is accessible by car. However, be careful because depending on the weather from previous days, the track, which is generally in poor condition, can really deteriorate. If you have an SUV or a 4×4, you should not have any problems. However, if you have a "classic" car, inquire beforehand! Motorbikes and camper vans are not allowed to circulate there.

Valley Drive is a 27-kilometer long trail (allow 2 to 2.5 hours to make the loop including photo stops) that winds through Monument Valley and offers various viewpoints of the park's rock formations.

It is the number 1 activity to do in Monument Valley. The entrance to the trail is on the left as you arrive at the parking lot of The View hotel and the Visitor Center. The first 500 meters of the trail are quite rough, where it makes two tight turns to go down the slope and reach the valley. You will then have the opportunity to pass by West Mitten Butte, East Mitten Butte, and Merrick Butte. Many parking spaces are available along the trail.

It is also possible to discover the park through a guided tour with a Navajo (starting at $70 per person for 1.5 hours, a bit expensive for my taste). You will then discover Monument Valley with a guide and visit places that are off-limits to the public. Take your time to calmly check the offers online. You also have the option to consult the list of approximately 30 providers at the Visitor Center.

You can also explore the park by taking a horseback ride. The departure is inside the park (so you should allow 20 minutes by car on the trail from the Visitor Center to reach the Corral), Expect to pay $80 per person for a 1-hour ride (reservation recommended).
