Regarding the restaurants, I must say I was very surprised! You will find very good addresses and flavors from around the world at all prices! There are also some great concept stores. For example, we had breakfast where our friend Sophie works, and it's a bookstore! There are books everywhere that you can borrow or buy. In the middle of this old, cramped building with crazy charm, there are tables, armchairs, and lots of little pieces to make the setting warm and intimate. We loved it!

Sydney is known for its beaches with beautiful waves. There are therefore many surfers. The beaches are also a meeting place for many Australians after work. They enjoy getting together to chill, swim, or have a picnic. In any case, you will be spoiled for choice since there are about 70 of them!

We advise against driving in Sydney, although we have done so very often. There are very few parking spaces and they are usually very expensive. You may find a few rare free parking spaces, but they are rarely available. However, if you are in the city only for a day or a weekend, we recommend parking your vehicle at the parking lots of Woolworth or Coles supermarkets (in the suburbs) and connecting to the city via public transport! You can use the main train lines (never late and numerous each day) and take a subway, bus, or ferry for just a few dollars. One last thing concerning transportation. You will need a personalized Opal card where you can add credit online or directly at a subway or train station. You can check its balance online. With this card, you can go anywhere in Sydney and its surroundings!

We loved Sydney a lot, in contrast to Melbourne, which we found too similar to our European cities. Sydney has a lot of charm and is ideal for those who love beautiful beaches, beautiful architecture, moving around without having to use a car, meeting people, discovering all the influences of the country, enjoying good food, doing plenty of different activities, and experiencing nice weather.

It’s a city where you can breathe with all its parks, beaches, rivers, and public transport that limits road traffic. You can quickly be in nature by taking the train. It’s a young and dynamic city, and the residents are friendly and athletic.

As in every city, shopping is incredible! There are many shopping centers, but also pretty pedestrian streets and beautiful boutiques scattered throughout the city. Note that the neighborhoods influence what you will find there.
